Despite new rumors popping-up every day, Nintendo remains firm about their goals for the Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa expressed in a recent interview with The Sankei News that the company is currently happy with how the Switch is performing in the market. He also mentioned that they are doing their best to reach their goal of 20 million sales within the fiscal year so maintaining its momentum is prioritized over other plans:
Q: Could you tell us how your goal is going for the Switch to sell 20 million units within the [fiscal] year? This statement coincides with Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé's remark last year when asked about a possible hardware revision for their console.
Furukawa: It is an extremely ambitious, but worthwhile achievement. So, we will maintain this goal. Nintendo Switch is our primary sales objective, and we are not considering a successor or a price cut at this time.
Though a price cut is not expected for its international SRP, its local retail price has significantly dropped from its initial launch price of P24,495 down to P16,995 for stand-alone standard edition systems.
Is this enough to convince you to purchase a Nintendo Switch right now or would you rather wait for future content (eg: specific games, revisions, etc)?
