Some Filipinos are still reluctant in buying a Nintendo Switch console right now because they waiting for a hardware revision similar to what happened to the original 3DS handheld. Nintendo's latest statement might help clear some doubts if you are one of these people.
During a recent interview, Forbes brought up the Wall Street Journal report about a possible new Nintendo Switch version that might arrive during the second half of 2019. President of Nintendo America Reggie Fils-Aimé neither confirmed nor denied this but reiterated that Nintendo's focus right now is to maintain the momentum of the current Switch:
Right now, as we go into our second holiday, my focus is making sure the current grey and neon Switch continue to have momentum in the market place. You saw systems, whether it’s our own or competitive home console systems, utilize that tactic a bit later in the life cycle. So right now, the current execution of Nintendo Switch with the Joy-Con and all of the capabilities, that’s our focus right now.Hardware aside, the Switch now boasts multiple first-party console-seller titles including the recently released Pokemon Let's Go, Pikachu! & Eevee! and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Third-party support have notably increased as well. Most importantly for Filipinos, its retail price has significantly dropped from its launch price of P24,495 down to P16,995 for stand-alone standard edition systems.
