UPDATE: SM Cinema has informed us that as of the moment, they have yet to receive any advise from their management about a possible video game tie-in so they cannot provide any more details about it.SM Cinema revealed that Pokemon The Movie 21: The Power of Us, is coming soon to their theaters on December 5, 2018.
This film is the sequel to Pokemon the Movie 20: I Choose You!. Both exist in a universe separate from the animated TV series which is currently loosely based on the Generation 7 video games.
In the US, the Mythical Pokemon Zeraora will be distributed for the Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon games through participating game stores via code. Japan distributed them through local Wi-Fi on top of another code distribution event for a Multiscale Lugia for those who pre-booked the movie. Unfortunately no local tie-in event has been announced at the time of writing so we have reached out to SM Cinema for more info. We will update this post as soon as new information becomes available. Meanwhile, they did tease that wild Pikachus have appeared at SM Mall of Asia and SM North Edsa this weekend.
The first and last official theatrical release of a Pokemon Movie here happened way back in 2013 when Pokemon The Movie 16: Genesect and the Legend Awakened came out. This was also the only time that an official local Wi-Fi tie-in distribution event for the video games took place here in our country. A level 100 Mewtwo was distributed to Pokemon Black/White & Pokemon Black2/White2 players in SM Megamall. In addition, Red Genesect paper figures were also given away at selected cinemas that were airing the movie.
Here's the synopsis taken from the official Pokemon website:
