UPDATE: The new Ver 1.2.1 update fixed a bug that prevents users from launching the game. It also fixed issues that caused Kudos and Timed Goals to not be counted properly.
Nintendo just released Ver 1.2.0 update for Animal Crossing Pocket Camp that requires you to download the update from the Playstore itself. Since the game isn't officially released in our region yet similar to Fire Emblem Heroes, you'll still need to do a couple more steps as a workaround.

Some Android users who have downloaded the game before using the VPN method can directly update the app from the Playstore. If you are unable to do this, you will still need to utilize a free VPN service like Tunnelbear VPN for the update. The steps below are also mentioned in the original How to Download Animal Crossing Pocket Camp in the Philippines post:
  • Go to your phone's Settings and Select Apps.
  • Find and select the Google Play Store app.
  • Tap Force stop, confirm, then tap Clear data and finally Clear cache.
  • Open the Google Play Store app and enter your login requirements. (See note below)
  • Search for Animal Crossing Pocket Camp & select Update.
  • After the download, go back to the Tunnelbear app and disable the VPN service.
  • Open Animal Crossing Pocket Camp & it will prompt you to perform a separate 170MB update from the game itself.
Note: If you have already used your Google account to purchase any app or micro-transaction from the Playstore, then this method may not work for that specific account. You will need to use a different Google account for your login to bypass this.

Version 1.2.0 added the following Quality of Life improvements along with new features:

Camper Costumes

You now have the ability to control what your animal campers wear. This unlocks at Level 4 and adds +2 affection. Simply tap on a camper and select the "Change Outfit" option to utilize this new feature.

Rug Placement Changes

While you still can't layer one rug over the other, the ability to cover but the dirt area and the wooden flooring of your camp is an appreciated QoL improvement.

OK Motors' Brake Tapper

The Brake Tapper is a slot-machine type minigame over at OK Motors that allows you to win caps which you can then exchange for a variety of rewards. Each spin will require 3 Friendship Powder. 3 matching images will reward you with 5 caps.

New Campers

5 new campers were added to the game along with a number of new furniture:
  • Dotty can unlock Reversi piece
  • Octavian can unlock Flying saucer
  • Eugene can unlock Big amp
  • Fuchsia can unlock Pinball machine
  • Freya can unlock Organ

Send a Tune

This is a new way of adding nearby players as friend. You can now use your smart device to send a tune to another player. When the other player receives the tune and accepts your friend request, the two of you will become in-game friends! To try it, tap More, Friends, Add Friend, and then Send a Tune. Aside from device compatibility, both players must be in the same physical location with their devices as well to use this feature.

Other Quality of Life Improvements
  • Adds campsite terrain customization
  • Improvements to the Shovelstrike Quarry
  • Improvements to the Market Box
  • Various changes for the Gardening feature
  • New fish and bugs
  • Updated some of the game's text.
