Some Nintendo owners were disappointed when CAPCOM revealed Monster Hunter World because it skipped the Nintendo Switch. In addition, no information about the 3DS and Switch versions of Monster Hunter XX were mentioned at Nintendo's E3 Spotlight.

A recent article "confirming" that they will not be bringing the Switch version of Monster Hunter XX to the US bothered even more people. The official Monster Hunter account rectified this information on Twitter saying that they have yet to announce any plans of localizing MHXX at this time:
The aforementioned article has been corrected since then.

The Switch version of Monster Hunter XX launches on August 25, 2017 in Japan. The Switch is region-free so you can still technically play this game on your US-region Switch. The only problem is that not all Japanese games feature a multi-language option.

For reference, here's a simple timeline of the Japanese and US release dates of Monster Hunter games on Nintendo consoles starting from the Wii era:

Title Console JPN Release Date US Release Date
Monster Hunter G Wii April 23, 2009 n/a
Monster Hunter Tri Wii August 1, 2009 April 20, 2010
Monster Hunter 3 G / Ultimate 3DS December 10, 2011 March 19, 2013
Monster Hunter 3 G / UItimate Wii U December 8, 2012 March 19, 2013
Monster Hunter 4 3DS September 14, 2013 n/a
Monster Hunter 4 G / Ultimate 3DS October 11, 2014 February 13, 2015
Monster Hunter X / Generations 3DS November 28, 2015 July 15, 2016
Monster Hunter XX 3DS March 18, 2017 n/a
Monster Hunter XX Switch August 25, 2017 n/a
If we use the release timeline above as reference, it is still too early to conclude anything. The 3DS version of Monster Hunter XX just came out in Japan last March while the Switch version will not be available until August this year. Not to mention the US release of Monster Hunter Generations has barely reached its first year yet.

Will you be waiting for the localized version of Monster Hunter XX for the 3DS/Switch or will you be contented with the Japanese version?
