Anna is not available so #UrsulaBae is here to savor this moment!

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia for the Nintendo 3DS launches on May 19, 2017 along with a bunch of extra content. With a little over 2 weeks until launch, have you saved enough money for the game? Remember, these prices are only estimates based on previous patterns. Availability and final prices are usually only revealed by local retailers on the release day itself.

Actual Game

Standard copies of Fire Emblem Echoes will have a US SRP of $39.99 (around P2,000 excluding tax).

The Limited Edition bundle will be sold at selected retailers in the US for $59.99 (around P3,000 excluding tax). For reference, the Special Edition Fire Emblem Fates bundle with a US SRP of $79.99 (around P3,800 excluding tax during that time) was sold here for P4,995 last year. While it is still unsure if our local retailers will be able to procure Limited Edition copies of Fire Emblem Echoes, you should at least prepare around P4000~P4500 just to be safe. The bundle includes:
  • A hardcover Valentia Artbook
  • Sound Selection CD
  • Pin Set depicting characters Alm, Celica, and Marth
  • A reversible cover sheet that looks like the packaging for the original Fire Emblem Gaiden for the Famicom
  • A copy of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia

Downloadable Content (DLC)

The game offers a variety of optional downloadable content that aim to enhance your overall experience. Some content will be free and some will be paid but all can be purchased individually or in packs for a discount. You can even save more money by purchasing the Season Pass which includes all 5 DLC Packs.

While prices for the individual DLC content aren't available at the time of writing, information regarding the 5 DLC Packs are:
  • DLC Pack 1 - Fledgling Warriors Pack
    $7.99 | Release Date: May 19 | No. of Content: 3
Ideal for early- to mid-game adventurers, this pack includes a new dungeon (The Astral Temple) and two new maps, great for gaining more items, money and experience points.
  • DLC Pack 2 - Undaunted Heroes Pack
Bundle Price: $9.99 | Release Date: May 25 | No. of Content: 3
In addition to a new dungeon (The Inner Sanctum), this pack also includes two challenging new maps that stronger, more seasoned heroes will want to tackle.
  • DLC Pack 3 - Lost Altars Pack
Bundle Price: $14.99 | Release Date: May 25 | No. of Content: 10
The mysterious dungeons included in this pack hold the power to upgrade characters to exclusive classes that don’t appear in the main game.
  • DLC Pack 4 - Rise of the Deliverance Pack
Bundle Price: $12.99 | Release Date: June 1 | No. of Content: 4
Discover the previously untold history of Valentia in this Prologue pack. Complete with new story content and additional voice acting that details the rise of the Deliverance in Zofia, this collection of challenging maps includes new support conversations between selected heroes, as well as the ability to take command of a character players won’t be able to control in the main game.
  • DLC Pack 5
Bundle Price: $5.99 | Release Date: TBA | No. of Content: 2
More information about this final DLC pack will be revealed in the future.
The Season Pass, valued at $44.99, lets you purchase all 5 DLC Packs for a discount. You'll save $6.96 on the Season Pass compared to buying the 5 DLC Packs separately and up to 30% compared to buying all 22 DLC content individually on their own. Season Pass content will be available starting on May 19 as soon as they release. Nintendo has yet to announce if they will release new DLCs in the future beyond the aforementioned 5 DLC Packs. This is highly unlikely if we compare what happened with previous DLCs in Awakening and Fates (some DLCs were not localized in Fates).

There are various ways to load up eShop credits needed to purchase the DLCs in-game when they become available:
Amiibos

The Alm and Celica amiibo figure Dual Pack will also launch on May 19 for $24.99 (around P1,250 excluding tax).
The Alm & Celica amiibos will activate their own exclusive dungeons when used in the game, allowing heroes to earn items and level up their armies further by defeating bosses. By selecting Mila’s Turnwheel from the menu on the overworld map, they will also be able to take advantage of their Alm and Celica amiibo in battle. During combat, players can sacrifice a portion of Alm or Celica’s health in order to summon a computer-controlled Illusory Hero, which will act as a temporary ally for a single turn. As Alm and Celica get stronger, their stats can be saved to their respective amiibo, allowing their summoned unit to grow in strength alongside with them.

In addition, all Fire Emblem amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. series can be used to summon an Illusory Hero of that character, allowing players to seek assistance from spectral visages of Marth, Ike, Roy, Robin, Lucina and the upcoming Corrin amiibo. All other currently available amiibo are also compatible and will summon an additional monster to the battleground to assist players in battle.

While it is also unclear if our local retailers will be able to get the American Dual Pack figures, DataBlitz has started selling the Japanese individual Alm and Celica packs for P695 each since April 20. Since amiibos are region-free, you can use Japanese models on your US games without any problems.

3DS Themes

Two 3DS Home Menu Themes have been released in Japan so far. One features Alm's Battle Map 1 Theme while the other features Celica's Battle Map 1 Theme (With Mila's Divine Protection). Both are priced at 200 Yen each.

There's currently no information if the aforementioned themes will also be available for the US 3DS Theme Shop. For reference, the Fire Emblem Fates 3DS Themes were released last year for $1.99 each.

In conclusion, you will need to save between P2,000 (just the game) to P7,500 (Limited Edition + Season Pass DLC + amiibos included) depending on the number of items you'll buy on Day 1. Thankfully for our wallets, Nintendo has yet to announce any Limited Edition New 3DS XL or New 2DS XL systems for the game or we will need to activate #SkyFlakesDiet mode! For reference, the Special Edition Fire Emblem Fates New 3DS XL was sold here for P11,495 last year.
