It's the movie that no one knew they needed until the trailer dropped.

SM Cinema previously announced last month that the animated film Pokemon The Movie 21: The Power of Us will premiere locally on December 21, 2018. They have now recently confirmed that the new Pokemon: Detective Pikachu movie is coming to local cinemas sometime in May 2019. While they did not give a specific date, its international theatrical release is set to May 10, 2019 in RealD 3D.

This motion picture is the first Pokemon live-action film and is directed by Rob Letterman (Shrek, Goosebumps) and co-written by Letterman and Nicole Perlman (Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel). It is based on the spin-off video game title Detective Pikachu which came out earlier this year on the Nintendo 3DS:

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is a joint venture by Legendary Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and The Pokemon Company. Its first trailer went viral after it was revealed that Ryan Reynolds will voice the titular character Detective Pikachu. At the time of writing, its first official trailer posted by Warner Bros. Pictures has accumulated over 43 million views in just under a week.

Are you looking forward in seeing more realistic-looking Pokemon and Ryan Reynold's antics in the film?
