The Pokemon Company just announced a multitude of new updates pertaining to the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise next month.

First off, the Limited Edition Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue New 3DS Bundle comes with pre-installed copies of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. You'll also receive a Pokemon 3DS theme with the bundle along with two cover plates featuring Charizard and Blastoise. It's not currently known what specific theme comes with it.

The 3DS version of Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, and Pokemon Yellow won't be remakes but they will feature online functionality replacing the obsolete Link Cable system for trades and battles. The bundle will come out sometime in February while the games will launch exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS eShop on February 27.

We already asked our local retailers regarding possible pre-order requests for the aforementioned system. We will post new updates as soon as they come.

Next, multiple Pokemon distributions have been confirmed with the Monthly Mythical Pokemon Distribution event. Starting February 2016, Mythical Pokemon such as Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Keldeo, Meloetta and Genesect will be distributed through North American (the same region as US, Asian, & MDE) copies of Pokemon X, Pokemon Y, Pokemon Omega Ruby, and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. The only catch is that the events are not normally accessible to trainers residing in the Philippines:

POKEMON DISTRIBUTION DATE DISTRIBUTION METHOD
Mew February 1 - 24 via GameStop (US only)
Celebi March 1 - 24 via the Nintendo Network
Jirachi April 1 - 24 via the Nintendo Network
Manaphy May 1 - 24 via the Nintendo Network
Darkrai June 1 - 24 via GameStop (US only)
Shaymin July 1 - 24 via the Nintendo Network
Arceus August 1 - 24 via GameStop (US only)
Victini September 1 - 24 via the Nintendo Network
Keldeo October 1 - 24 via the Nintendo Network
Meloetta November 1 - 24 via the Nintendo Network
Genesect December 1 - 24 via GameStop (US only)
While it may be possible to participate in the Nintendo Network events if they behave similar to the McDonald's Hoopa Event held last month, the GameStop-exclusive distributions are going to be different. Hopefully, the information we provided in Maxsoft's survey included in their Christmas Arceus Event will help address this issue in the future.

For Pokemon figure collectors, Hubbyte Toy Store is now taking requests locally for Nendoroid Pokemon Trainer Red: Champion Ver.

No new details were revealed regarding Pokemon GO for Android and iOS devices.

Lastly, it's Junichi Masuda's 48th Birthday!

Other Pokemon-related announcements are also included in the trailer below:
