After collating hundreds of your votes, the results are all in! As previously explained, only North American (the same region as US, Asian, & MDE) games released in 2015 will be featured below.

Retail Game of the Year

Scooping 29% of all votes, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate takes the cake. Even though the newly added online multiplayer feature for this iteration should be its main selling point, the spirit of local multiplayer sessions in StreetPass Events didn't truly disappear. In fact, various StreetPass Communities has Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate as their preferred game. Released on February 13, true fans kept the hype train chugging.

eShop Game of the Year

Being the first free-to-download Pokemon spin-off released on February 18, Pokemon Shuffle conquered the eShop league by appealing to 28% of the voters. Aside from its Pokemon charm, one of the most popular reasons why people voted for the game is due to its price. It's a fun free game you can spend time playing in-between sessions. Though spending real money for in-game benefits isn't required, it does greatly improve your gameplay experience especially during Limited Time Challenges.

We also asked you regarding the games you purchased and downloaded this year. Although free-to-download eShop games are expected to top the charts, it's still surprising how 100% of the voters who purchased Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate also said that it's their Game of the Year. The Top 5 results for most purchased games are shown below.

Most Purchased Retail Games of 2015
    Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (23%)
    Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (15%)
    Yo-Kai Watch (10%)
    Stella Glow (9%)
    Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon (6%)

Most Downloaded eShop Games of 2015
    Pokemon Shuffle (26%)
    Pokemon Rumble World (26%)
    Pokemon Picross (15%)
    Nintendo Badge Arcade (9%)
    Flipnote Studio 3D (6%)

And that's all for 2015, folks! A big thanks to everyone who participated in the poll. Were you surprised by the results? Did 2015 leave an impression? Let us know in the comments below. Have a safe and Happy New Year!
