The New Nintendo 3DS XL sold out rapidly in Philippine stores. In fact, local video game retailers still struggle to keep them in stock. This doesn't stop technical-minded people from finding ways to enhance their gameplay experience.

Miiverse user MeowMeow9001 mapped a Nokia N73 control stick to his old regular 3DS D-pad (the D-pad still works!). Because of this setup, the modded stick can only perform taunts in the game Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. However, it still works exceptionally well in games that use the D-pad for camera controls like in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate:

MeowMeow9001 also mentioned that he is still busy with school projects so the video tutorial for this mod will have to wait. Although theoretically feasible on the 2DS and the old 3DS XL, modding your systems will most likely void your warranty. This is why participants from the community discussion thread recommend trying it out on old systems first even if you have the necessary skills, equipment, and courage to pull it off. Better safe than sorry!
